West Berkshire Council is introducing a new waste collection schedule to help residents recycle more and waste less. Starting Monday 22 September 2025, black bins will be collected once every three weeks, instead of fortnightly.
This change is part of the Council’s new 3.2.1 collection service, which includes:
– 3-weekly black bin collections
– Fortnightly recycling and garden waste collections
– Weekly food waste collections
The Council aims to reduce landfill waste and carbon emissions, while encouraging better use of recycling and food waste services. Households with communal bins (e.g. flats) will not be affected.
Collection calendars and further guidance will be sent to residents between 26 August and 8 September 2025. For full details, practical tips, and support options, visit West Berkshire Council’s page on three-weekly black bin collections.
