David Wilson Homes Southern (DWHS) and Homes England are inviting residents and local stakeholders to a public consultation event on Wednesday 14 January 2026 regarding the redevelopment of the former Institute for Animal Health site on Compton High Street.
Hybrid planning permission was granted in March 2023 for the site, including:
- Demolition of existing buildings
- Change of use of the northern part of the site to a wildlife habitat area
- Outline permission for up to 160 dwellings and 1.75 hectares of employment land
DWHS and Homes England are now progressing the detailed residential scheme and are seeking community feedback. The consultation will provide an opportunity to view the proposals, raise questions with the project team, and share any concerns before the reserved matters application is submitted to West Berkshire Council.
Event details:
- Date: Wednesday 14 January 2026
- Times: 2:00–4:00pm and 5:30–8:30pm
- Location: Wilkins Centre, Burrell Road, Compton, Newbury RG20 6NP
The parish council would like to encourage all residents to attend and make their views known.
