West Berkshire Council has published the Reserved Matters application for the next stage of development at the former Institute for Animal Health site in Compton (Ref: 26/00261/RESMAJ). This application sets out the detailed appearance, layout, scale and landscaping for 160 new homes, alongside public open space and associated infrastructure.

Residents who wish to review the plans or submit comments to the planning authority can now do so via the West Berkshire Council planning portal.

To support its formal response, the Parish Council has commissioned an independent advice note from its planning consultants. Once this has been received, the Parish Council will arrange a separate meeting specifically to discuss the application. The date of this meeting will be publicised as soon as it is confirmed.

Application summary:
The Reserved Matters submission follows Outline permission 20/01336/OUTMAJ for up to 160 residential units (Class C3), landscaping, access, parking, sustainable drainage, engineering works and mitigation measures. The wider scheme includes 1.75 hectares of employment land (Class B1) associated with the retention of the Intervet building, and a playing field linked to the existing cricket pitch. Full permission also covers demolition, preparatory works, and the creation of public open space and a wildlife area.

Site address: Institute for Animal Health, High Street, Compton, RG20 7NN.
